Another painting about being attacked! This'll be the last time I paint about this subject for for a while, i just have to get it out of my system. For this painting I want to be able to paint something in the dark with specific light sources! I hope to learn the importance of contrast. I'm also trying a more dramatic angel/prespective. After starting this one out, I'm worried if I have bitten off more than i can chew.... I hope I can finish this piece!

After lookng at the last two paintings I've done, I realize they really don't feel very painting like. I was asking my friend Walter for advice on how to make more painting like paintings and he basically told to to just paint straight on in photoshop, so tha tis wat i'm trying. I'm actually surprised how fun it is, yet I'm far from reaching the "concept artist" look. I wonder how this piece will will look when its done..

I was inspired by Travis Charest's Space girl comic and not being to buy a copy :( So I drew my own, kinda... It took a lot longer than I wanted to to finish, but all in all, I'm pretty pleased wiht it. The chick's outfit is cute, the glowing blob alien look cool and the space ship is aight. Maybe I will write some mini stories about "galaxy girl". BTW, the ship in the backgrond is an enemy ship that shot her down, she just so happened to land on a hostile place. How will Galaxy girl get out of this pickle?

First of all, I'm an artist(trying my best) and not a spelling bee champ... with that said, I think this piece is finally finished! Painting in Photoshop is pretty fun! Theres so much I learned, but I know I havent even scratch the surface of what can be achieved! Well i have to go dream up of somethng else to paint. I don't know if this piece will be any good in a portfolio, but it still looks pretty fun to look at. I hope you enjoy it!

Here's more concept art for my latest comic idea inspired by the steam punk theme. I had a very tough time trying to come up with the name of my story. I was riding a plane back from sdcc 09 and looked out the window thinking about my new idea and was in awe to see that we were above the clouds, then it hit me that that should be the title to my latest story! So there you have it folks, thats the title to my newest comic idea! Well at least a working title for now.

Hopefully I'll update this blogg wiht a color version of this image soon.

This is "battle mode offine" Mecha SkullBunny. Creating the side plates are by far the most challenging thing and will probably the last thing I will be trying to tweak. >_<

These are the standard issue missile launchers. Just because they're standard doesn't mean they're not chalked full of "Kaiju whoop ass".

These's are the "Emmy Rockets", b/c my friend Emmy suggested I make these. These rockets are the strongest ammo Mecha SkullBunny has eqiuped. They're 24 rockets loaded with "OhF*uckMe,WhyDidIEverMessWithMechaSkullBunny?" goodness.

Yes, that's right, not fake girls from my head, this one was real. Go ahead and make all the jokes you want... are you done? Anyways, I was at a public figure drawing class tonite and the model kept posing wiht his back toward us and he did a 20 minute pose! The ppl on my side were demanding that he pose wiht his front to us, and he said next one. So instead of drawing his back completely in shadow, I drew a very cute girl who was very much into her drawing, that alone is hot. I liked her giant godzilla shirt and her big loop ear rings. I didn't get her name though, maybe next time....

WTF wolverine movie!

I just saw the wolverine movie. Overall it was good. But..BUT.. there was part which logic, even in these movies where the use of "logic" is already pretty laxed, is just something I can't not let go. I'm already bothered by how I can not already understand how many of the things in my life work out, but to have this annoying lack of "logic" bother me in a movie in which I was trying to just enjoy to get away from the stoopidness of my own life, thats just pushing it. So I present to you a comic I have made in 2 hours last nite, a first btw in not only time, but also b/c I never really moved by anything to have drawn a comic about it like this b4!

So here it is:

In case you dont get.... the bad guys sent their BEST with GUNS guy after wolverine. Of course Wolverine jacks him. In the very next scene the bad guy boss reveals that the ONLY WEAPON THAT CAN STOP WOLVERINE IS A GUN WITH ANTAMATIUM BULLETS.

Who writes this crap? This scene is a example of the prevebial fine line between comic genuis or complete jack ass....

I have worked for weeks on a skullbunny model in Maya and after finishing it, I was able to print it out using a 3d printer! It's the coolest thing I've ever done, for now :)

The small one is one of the very first castings of the original skullbunny figure I made in September 2006.

This was a devil dog figure produced by secret base. A lot of japanese vinyl toy collectors hated it, so i went a bought one anyways. Afterward, i felt like I had made a bad purchase :(. It sat in a box for months until I heard that Super 7 was haviong a custom toy art show. I asked Lee and Glenn @S7 if I could be part of it months ago and they said ok.

Months later, I had forgotten I was part of the show and so I hauled ass and I painted this figure in less than 2 days! I blame myself for forgetting that I am part of an art show at Super7 Japanese toy shop in Japan town next sat, on April 18. Hopefully someone will buy it and I'll make back the money I spent on it originally :P

This is the second drawing I've made using the wacom cintiq. It's not like paper and pen, but close enough and more forgiving. It sux that at the end of the drawing, you don't really feel like u own it cuz there is no physical piece of art to hold unless you print it out, but that's not the same. Anyways, still trying to get use to using it and its a lot of fun.

This drawing took me 5 days to finish! I started this drawing on Tuesday, but was not able to finish it during lunch. It was a very long and personally difficult week to get through, and from the begining I had felt as tired like the girl appearently looks like, but not as comfortable. I wasn't sure where I was gong when I started the drawing besides the fact that I was feeling exhausted and wante dot express that in my drawing, my Friend James suggested that I draw a horn on her, and so i did and fromt hat point it becames this oni-tiger skined themed pic. I guess this girl is like my verson of Rumiko Takahashi's Lum. I'm not sure if it was worth taking 5 days to finish this drawing, but overall I'm glad it's done. At least it's one thing I said I have accomplished this week. Now if only I can actually fix the real problems in my life....

For a drawing done in pen, I still feel its quite uptight and not as loose as I would like it to be. The inconsitency in the line thickness makes me feel like I'm still insecure about my lines and that my pen control is totally sucking. To my defense, I haven't drawn wiht pen in a while so regaining what pen control I felt I had back in the day will take a while to come back. I'm trying to draw more and more with pen b/c I think it makes artist see their mistakes b/c they can't erase. but at the sametime it may also make an artist repetive and stuck in a comfortable stroke. I'll try drawing things I don't really want to then! Maybe...

I got Wall E a few months back but couldn't find EVE. Months passed and I forgot to look for her and then one day I just decided to check Amazon and I found one! So I ordered it. Finally, Wall E won't be alone anymore! But then the shipment kept getting delayed until I got an email asking if I wanted to cancel it. I said no. Then they sent me the delay, want to cancel message again. Again, I said no. At this point I was worried that I may never get it and poor Wall E will be alone forever, but I didn't want to give it up. So finally after months of waiting, EVE finally arrived! And I couldn't be more happier! I have bought Wall E and EVE together! I'm totally geeking out over them! It's actually really cute to see them interact together, it's like they're actually happy to be together!

"A bunny dream"

I drew this drawing about week or two ago. I was having trouble sleeping so I decided to be productive and draw something. I didn't plan it I just put my pen on the paper and let whatever come out. The result, a naked chick in water breathing out a bunny spirit while a spiky eel swims around her torso. Like I said, I let whatever out. I usually do not draw my women nude unless it's for figure drawing. I've been drawing my cute Skull Bunnies comic for a while and I guess I wanted something less cute. I wouldn't care this image sexy, and I doubt it even arouses anyone.
Anyways I didn't know what to do with it, except maybe slap it in my next sketch book to sell, like all the rest of my chick drawings that have nothing to do with my comics. But I wanted to do something. So I colored it and made it a "print" and gave it to my friend Sandra for her birthday. She's the only one I know who likes art and I'd figure she would appreciate it more than anyone I knew. So happy birthday Sandra! In the print I gave Sandra I removed the eel, I think it looks more calm and serene. Overall the colors came out pretty nice. I was worried cuz I do not work with photoshop and I haven't touched photoshop since June! I was fumbling all over when I first started it back up again. Anyways, I hope you enjoy my naked chick in the water.

Wow it's been a while since I last updated this Blog! Here are some pics of my work from a Group art showed titled 2d/3d put together Fabric8 and Neon Monster, 2 art galleries/stores in the mission district of San Francisco. The theme of the show was to pair a 2d piece of art with a 3d piece.

This my 2d/3d piece at Neon Monster. The demon figure was a new sculpture made specifically for the show. I'm kinda happy on how it turnout. It was incredibly challenging to get it to wrap around and stay still on the skull bunny head. Casting it and removing it from the mold is still a bitch!!!

I have to admit, I am my own worst enemy. I had a whole month to work on stuff for SD comic Con this year and I didn't get started till 4 days before going to San Diego. Knowing I had screwed myself in the "quantity of stuff to sell department", I decided to focus on how I was just going to attract people to my booth instead. So I decided to make a big ass Skull bunny. I had to figure out how though, and the only logical thing was to do it from paper meche. I remembered getting a pinata for my friend Nae Nae for her "going away party" and how big that sucker was and figured from its production quality it couldn't be that hard to do. At first I under estimated the nessessity of have the proper ingridents to make the paper mache paste. I used left over wheat flour instead of just flour, and I mixed it with 2 cups of water, and it looked and worked like shit. I finally found a really good paper mache recipe, so good I will share it wiht you:

The bombest paper mache paste recipe:

You will need:
-1/2 cup flour
-2 cups water
-2 cups boiling water
-3 tsp sugar

1) Mix 1/2 cup water with 2 cups water.
2) Mix the above with 2 cups boiling water and then continue to boil the entire mix
3) Mix in 3 tsp of sugar while above mix is still boiling
4) Once mix has boiled, turn off heat and let it sit, be sure to stir the mix now and then.
5) once the mix has cooled down you can now congratulate yourself for being the proud owner of the bombest paper mache paste ever.

I just got back from the SD Comic Con last night. Comic Con went a lot better for me than I expected. There were lots of people who seemed to enjoy my skull bunny comics, but were not able to bring themselves to actually purchasing one of my skull bunny figures, the adoption fee was too pricey. I think $20.00 for a hand made figure is reasonable if you consider all the time and effort it took the artist to make them. But that is the problem, most people do not understand that fact, which I do not blame them, since there is so much awesomeness at comic con that you really have to ration out your money as carefully as you can. I'm going to have to figure out a way to make these skull bunnies more affordable. Aside from how I did at comic con, it was really meeting the other artist around me that made it all worth while. I was fortunate to have great people and artist on both sides of my table and even across the way.

Well now that I am back from SDCC, I am going to try to finish Henagi the Ninja Girl issue 2, another Usagi Jane adventure whose work in progress title will be "Dias de muertos", along with prints and t shirts.

Here's comic I made as a homage to an online comic called "Kawaii not" and to decribe how I felt a few weeks ago. Actually I still feel this way every morning. Is it because I'm getting older? Hmm, no, come to think of it, waking up has always sucked. Maybe it's because when I was a child waking up was always so sudden. Being bossed around to eat this, wear that, go there, get in here, was all that urgency immediately after waking up really that necessary, at age 5? Oh, and I never liked that whole going to school thing. But now that I'm currently unemployed, I don't wake up as early or as urgently ether, yet I still feel like shit. To be honest, I love to sleep in, but not all the time, I much rather be able to take advantage of all the time I can get in a day. So far I felt like I have not been as productive as I know I can be. And as much as I would like to be super productive, I've been finding myself unable to stay in my apartment long enough to do that, instead I am wandering around outside walking up and down Berkeley with no real idea of where I'm gong or what I'm doing. Ironically, I just think of all the things I wish I was being productive at. As soon as I walk out the door, I think about the comics I want to write and draw, the images I want to paint, the toys I want to make, all that stuff, and when I finally come home later after walking around 2-3 hours I'm totally exhausted. It has been like this for nearly a month now. Good news though, I have been able to sit down and work on some things.
